Today, Out-going President Barry Keathley will speak to us about the past year as our leader, as he turns the podium over to our 73rd club president, Steve Conley.

The Installation Program will consist of other members moving up the list of Club Officers, they include, Randy Barns moving up to President-Elect, Gary Houston taking on the Secretary’s job, Al Creswell becoming Sergeant-at-Arms, Ascending Director is now Jody Kizer, Richard Graham will retain a seat as Director, Dave Schlager comes on board as the new kid on the block as Director and of course Barry Keathley will remain on board as Past President and Director.

Other offices changing hands this week are, Wilfrid Wilkinson turns the job of International president over to Dong-Kurn Lee of Seoul, Korea. Dong-Kurn is Chairman of Bu-Bang Co., Ltd and Bubang Techron Co., Ltd., manufacturing companies in Seoul.

Rufus Clifford of Columbia, Tennessee steps down as 6760 District Governor and the job is taken over by Larry Boyd of Brentwood, Tennessee.

2007-2008 has been a very successful year here at Union City Rotary, lets get behind President Conley and enjoy another!!

Next week, Union City Rotary will not meet, as we celebrate the Independence of our Great Nation, July 4th, 2008.

In two weeks, Ron Green, Clay Woods and participants of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Northwest Tennessee will visit U.C. Rotary.

Last Week, Union City Rotary held a first, as President Keathley presided over an Open-Forum club meeting.

Before the meeting, however there was an 11o’clock orientation meeting for new members held with Bob Stephens and Rob Jordon informing new members of the various duties and expectations of Rotary Members.

President Keathley then introduced Union City Rotary’s newest member, Kurt Baggett.

The first order of business was the presentation of "Paul Harris Fellow" awards with Art Sparks doing the honors. The first award went to Jim Thompson, and became his second Paul Harris. Next on the list was Dr. Roger P. Lewis, who received his 3rd Paul Harris award. The third award was presented as a surprise, and was presented after a brief biography and slight roasting from Art, the award went to Steve Vaughn. Art had made arrangements for Steve’s family to be present for the award, which also was also quite a surprise for Steve.

Next on the agenda, Roger Williams spoke to the club concerning changes he would like to see implemented into the Rotary Scholarship Program. Roger said he would like to see the committee look not only at financial needs of these students, but also their academic status, as there seems to be a number of these students not being academically strong enough to continue their education, and he said he would like to see an improvement on a "return on our investment". Roger then opened the floor for questions and suggestions to be taken back to the committee for consideration.

Randy Barns then took the podium and used the closing moments to encourage Rotary members to make a special effort to be in regular attendance to our Friday meetings. He touched on "Rotary Relay" involvement, and also asked members to help him with suggestions as he takes over the job of Program Chairman this year.
