Today, Rotarians get the in’s and out’s of Farm Commodity Trading, as Will Wade presents his version of how grain markets work.

He married Kim Ogelsby in 1995, and has settled into their lives in Union City with four children.
The topic he will cover will be things such as basis, futures trading, forward contraction and how all of them have been impacted in recent times due to the tremendous rise in commodities prices and subject to constraints of a tight credit market. He will explain how commodities markets have been affected by speculation and the influx of money from hedge funds.
Next Week, Union City Rotary will receive the low-down on the long awaited Port in Lake County, known as Cates Landing, a 22 million dollar project which was scheduled to have started construction in August.
Jimmy Williamson, started work on the landing project in 1999, it’s been a long haul according to Jimmy but "finally things are moving along" he said. The Board consist of representatives form Lake, Obion and Dyer Counties, with Richard Arnold and Dave Frankum representing Obion County.
Jimmy, the (Volunteer) Chairman of the Port Authority will present a short powerpoint presentation about the current status of the venture.
Jimmy is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, with a Masters Degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Tennessee, Certified Management Accountant and President & CEO of Dyersburg Electric System. He has been with Dyersburg Electric for fourty-three years plus. He is married, has two daughters and two grandchildren.
Jimmy is on the Board of Directors of Dyersburg Chamber of Commerce and also member of United Way Board.
Last Week, before the speaker was introduced President Conley presented two new members to the club for approval, them being Jim Douglas and Derrick Ziegler.
Gary Houston then introduced our speaker, Coach Darren Bowling of the Union City Tornado Football program.
Coach Bowling began by expressing his appreciation to the club and the community for letting him and his family come back to this community, and his excitement for the opportunity to be in a program where there is so much excitement and support of their football program.
He then introduced the programs Senior Cheerleaders and sponsors, the Senior Players making up the team this year and his coaching staff.
He said "the first thing he did when he came in was to go to Coach Duncan and request new weight room equipment, and with the help of the Booster Club, this happened immediately".
Coach Bowling said he started with 48 upper classmen, started lifting weights, then started spring practice, lost a few, then came off season program in weight-room, lost a few more, summer program came along and lost a few more. He said in the program "all gave some and some gave all" and this is what he has now, the "ones that gave all". He now has 25 upper classmen on the team, and this is what he will build the U.C. Program from. He also spoke of the Summer Camp, where he woke his team up at 12:00 midnight for practice, because he wanted his team to be the first to practice in pads in Tennessee, and we want to be the last team to practice in pads in Tennessee in December. He said the main thing he is trying to build into the team is, respect, trust, accountability, character, pride, and tradition. He said he wants the respect the program once had, and when the opposing teams bus rolls in town, he wants that team to know they are going to get one handed to them and they know the Tornados are going to be tough and they are going to get hit like never before.
