Next week, there will be no meeting, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
In two weeks, the festivities begin to turn toward the Christmas Holidays, as we enjoy our annual visit from the talented group of children from Union City Elementary School, as they perform their rendition of some of our old and favorite Christmas Carols. I am sure all of you who were present last year remember the wonderful program the kids entertained us with, and we can be sure that this year will be no exception.
Last Week, the Union City High School Basketball Coaches visited, and Coach Sisco received a couple of roasts from former UCHS Football Coach, Randy Barnes.
Coach Jeff Chandler began the program by also ribbing Coach Sisco, but all was taken very well. He also said that when Marty, Shane and he get together in a Gymnasium, old stories begin to fly. Coach Chandler then introduced his guests, along with Cheerleader Sponsors, Senior Cheerleaders and his 5 Senior players on the team.
Jeff is coming off a 6-21 season last year, but was very up-beat for this year. He said last season did not really tell the story, because of all the close games and the experience his girls picked up, and as he mentioned bringing back 5 Seniors, 4 Juniors and a couple of Sophomores, which will probably start this year, he said he expects better things. He also said the 6 wins he had last year was going to be better than the wins the TN. Football team would have in 2008. He expects this team to match up with any of the teams of the past several years.
Coach Sisco took the podium and poked a little fun back at Coach Chandler. He then introduced his new assistant to Rotary, Preston Barber, who received a round of applause. He introduced his Seniors. He only has 3 Seniors, but said he expected great things from these players. He said he was not near as deep as last year, and with other teams height advantage, he would probably not be very successful in the half court situations. He also said he has a young team and expects a lot of improvement in the team as the year progresses.
