Last week, President Houston began the meeting by calling new members Brad Parsons and Doug Latimer to the front in order to issue the Rotary Membership Packet and officially induct them into Rotary. They were also informed of the challenges placed upon them as members of Union city Rotary and Rotary International. President Houston also announced Pete Blanton had been approved by the board and membership, meaning he will be asked to become a member of Union City Rotary.
Past President Barry Keathley introduced the program for the day and if you were not here last week, you missed the opportunity to witness one of the top programs of the year, as former NFL standout Chris Sanders, Wide Receiver for the Tennessee Titans for 7 years kept a captive audience sharing experiences while a member of that team and also witnessing how our Lord and Savior had turned his life around since 1995, and how Christianity is affecting his life today.
Chris used the term, "There Is Still Time on the Clock" relating to everyday experiences life can bring your way. He introduced the term using a very important football game he was in and everyone thought they had lost, but with 16 seconds on the clock one of their running backs broke loose and made a long run for a touchdown winning the game which took them to the super bowl.
He shared experiences in his own life, which had brought him to his knees, and in one particular case to the point of ending his own life, but by the grace of The Almighty, there was still time on the clock for him to rise up and with the help of Jesus Christ, was able to overcome and was much better for it.
He also related to one of his favorite movies of all time, using the main character in the film "Rocky" as a source of inspiration, saying no matter how many times you get knocked down, there is always a chance to get up and go again, because, "There Is Still Time On The Clock".
Chris took time at the end of his presentation taking questions and sharing his views of the recent news of the resignation of Jeff Fisher, also making predictions as to who will win Super bowl XLV.
